The South African Heritage Collection

Documented over 25 years this rare original print collection details moments with extraordinary leaders, places and artifacts from out a time in South Africa when the call to freedom brought history, culture, race and faiths in South Africa to its knees. When most young South Africans chose to ignore our collective history or even emigrate, photographer Matthew Willman stepped up and chose to dive in to explore, to learn, to bring to light the reality of what happened pre-1994. With the passage of time all Willman’s peers will have passed away. In years to come with age on his side Willman’s body of work with his incredible stories, Willman will be the only living documenter able to share first hand stories and experiences of this incredible time in South Africa’s history.
